MPP Alumni Spotlight: Alyson Robles-Hill '20

Alyson Robles-Hill is a May 2020 graduate of Master of Public Policy program. As a student, her passion for bicycle and pedestrian transportation policy paved the way (pun intended) for a broader focus on the planning and evaluation of transdisciplinary policy approaches to climate resilience. Her work in graduate school sought to bridge the gaps between the fields of public health, urban planning, climate science, and public policy. This interest led to an internship with the Environmental Public Health initiative at the Pima County Health Department in Summer 2019, appointment to the City of Tucson’s Pedestrian Advisory Committee in February 2020, and culminated in her capstone project, “Public Health Impacts of Municipal Complete Streets Policies: An Empirical Evaluation.” 

While in school, Alyson used her TA position leading lab sessions of Statistics for the Social Sciences as an opportunity to inspire students to approach the world with an inquisitive and evaluative mindset. This experience served as the basis for her postgraduate career in program evaluation. In May, Alyson was hired as a Research Project Manager in the Assessment & Program Evaluation department at the Tucson Unified School District. In this role, she helps to improve data literacy among educators and uses the district’s vast database to further its goal of equitable access to educational services for all children. She holds memberships in both the Arizona Evaluation Network and the American Evaluation Association.
