MPA Spotlight: Erick Lemos
I graduated in May 2025 with by Bachelor's degree in Political Science with a Law and Public Policy emphasis and a minor in Business Administration. Currently, I am in the Master of Public Administration program, where I first started as an accelerated master's student, and will finish this Spring 2026 semester. I was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona so I truly have been a Wildcat for my whole life!
I am currently a Management Intern for the City of Tucson in the City Manager's Office and I also work as a Lifeguard Supervisor at the Oro Valley Aquatic Center. In addition to my academic and professional commitments, I am the Vice President of the UA Student Chapter of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA). During my undergraduate years, I was part of SPURS Sophomore Honorary, Links Junior Honorary, and was an Ambassador for the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences.
I chose the MPA program because I knew that going into my career, I want to enact policies and work in local government to help lift up communities and strengthen well-being. Through my time in this program, I have learned that this is exactly where I am supposed to be. I have found all my MPA classes, assignments, and professors to be very helpful and interesting, and I know this program is equipping me with the tools needed to be a good public servant. After graduation, I hope to have the opportunity to work as a Management Assistant through the ICMA Local Government Management Fellowship.
