MPA Spotlight: Doris Mensah
Doris is a 2nd-year Master of Public Administration (MPA) student who is passionate about public service and local governance. Born and raised in Ghana, she brings a unique perspective and a strong academic and professional foundation in municipal governance.
“I applied to the MPA program to gain valuable skills and knowledge essential for my career path in local government. Thankfully, I have gained that and more through receiving the Keane Fellowship and serving as the UA International City/County Management Association (ICMA) Student Chapter Treasurer -- now the President -- as well as participating in a panel discussion at the Arizona City/County Management Association (ACMA) Winter Conference.”
Currently, Doris works as a Management Intern at the Town of Sahuarita, where she supports high-impact policy and community-focused projects, intergovernmental affairs, and advancing strategic initiatives. She also worked with her municipality in Ghana, the City of Flagstaff and the Town of Oro Valley, gaining diverse experience and skills in local government management.
Upon graduation, Doris intends to continue her career in local government as a Management Analyst with the ultimate goal of becoming a City Manager.
