Pima County Democratic Party - Paid Internship

Pima County Democratic Party works to elect Democratic candidates in Pima County who have values in alignment with the PCDP platform, and we provide leadership and coordination for the election of Democrats up and down the ballot.

Deadlines

Students looking to receive credit for their PCDP internship should apply as soon as possible. If selected, students will be contacted to attend interviews:

  • In November or December for Spring Internships
  • In April or May for Summer & Fall Internships

Internship Description: Stipend Available

The Pima Democratic Party is looking for dedicated students with a passion for local politics. Join our team, help win elections, and participate in the inner workings of local government and political offices. Interns will work approximately 8 hours per week (12 hours during the summer).

In addition to the specific intern areas listed below, all interns will:
● Attend relevant PCDP committee meetings
● Assist staff as needed
● Support Democratic party values and principals
● Be able to work both remotely, in the office, and at other locations around Pima County during some shifts

Students will receive a $500 stipend midway through the semester and another $500 stipend at the end of the semester. 

The PCDP Internship may include the following activities (will vary depending on election cycle):

Fundraising

● Assist with planning and recruiting for fundraising events

● Manage and design fundraising correspondence

● Participate in the development of the general fundraising plans

Communications

● Assist with general communications planning and strategizing

● Participate in creating weekly, biweekly, and monthly newsletters

● Periodically update the PCDP website

Field Work

● Plan and recruit for volunteers to make calls, register voters, and canvass neighborhoods

● Train volunteers to help coordinate events

● Research events that provide opportunities for PCDP exposure

Social Media 

● Create digital content for social media platforms

● Research events that provide opportunities for PCDP social media exposure

● Attend PCDP events to take photos/video for social media

Purpose of the Internship:

The internship provides a view into the world of government and political campaigns and will expose the intern to different careers in the political realm. Interns will learn skills related to:

● Campaign-specific technology

● Utilizing data related to political demographics of voters

● Event planning

● Communications
