The ideal intern candidate will be a student who demonstrates a commitment to a global affairs curriculum and nonprofit leadership. Because this internship will provide regular opportunities to interface with speakers from all over the world, the intern will be required to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. This educational internship opportunity will report directly to PCFR’s Executive Director and spearhead assignments in the following areas:

Program: Work closely with the Program Committee to ensure that member ideas for programs and prospective speakers are documented properly with actionable next steps. Create briefing materials for guest speakers and help build programs.

Membership: Provide support to the Membership Committee to streamline new member application/onboarding processes; update and maintain membership dashboards for reporting purposes. Responsible for auditing membership roster on a regular basis to ensure proper communication to members related to membership.

Public Affairs: Collaborate with the Public Affairs Committee to provide upcoming program updates and ensure that marketing and communications reflect the appropriate content. Maintain and monitor social media platforms. Liaise with PCFR Fellow to make sure that “The Muse” materials are collected on a timely basis. Support PCFR Fellow to fulfill requirements of digital marketing campaigns.

Purpose of the Internship

The Phoenix Committee on Foreign Relations is pleased to announce the Conni Ingallina Internship honoring the late Conni Ingallina who, as PCFR Executive Director for the last 16 years, was the steady and experienced hand that guided a succession of PCFR leaders with diplomatic tact and ever-present grace. Thanks to the Galbut and Morris families, longtime members and donors of PCFR, Conni’s industrious spirit will remain with PCFR in perpetuity with the creation of an internship in her name. PCFR is eternally grateful to the Galbut and Morris families, who have made a generous contribution to fund the Conni Ingallina Internship for the next two years. This contribution will provide a $500 stipend per semester to internship recipients. The Conni Ingallina Interns will receive complimentary PCFR membership for the entire year and the opportunity to participate in PCFR’s Reading Group and Great Decisions program.

The Conni Ingallina Internship will provide undergraduate students from Arizona State University and University of Arizona the opportunity to participate at the forefront of Arizona’s premier foreign relations organization. Student interns will gain hands-on, real-world experiences through projects that directly impact PCFR’s members, programs, development and marketing efforts.

How to Apply

Interested undergraduate students currently enrolled at Arizona State University and University of Arizona should submit a cover letter, CV and writing sample to this email.

Fall Internship deadline is August 31 This 3-month internship will begin on September 12 and end on December 15. 

Spring Internship deadline is January  This 3-month internship will begin on January 17 and end on May 12.

Summer Internship deadline is May 12  This 3-month internship will begin on May 30 and end on Sep 1.

Multiple internships will be made available to accommodate students not based in Greater Phoenix. Candidates must commit to at least 5 hours per week and have access to appropriate technology to participate in remote, virtual work. Computer, reliable access to WiFi, and phone are required, including demonstrated ability in use of virtual platforms such as Zoom, Google Suite, Wild Apricot, Hootsuite, Canva, etc.
