Maddy has worked in non-profits and government for the past decade with significant experience in public policy, research, analysis, grant writing, management, and communications.

She began her academic career, attending the University of Arizona and receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History with an emphasis in American Politics. While at the University of Arizona, Maddy created an off-campus housing sustainability program, that acted as a consultant for 26 privately-owned apartment complexes in the Tucson area to increase sustainable practices and programs.

In 2022, during her time at the Pima Council on Aging, Maddy ran a project called “Take YOUR Shot” and won the first-place award for most innovative program in the country from the national association, USAging. Additionally, in August 2022, Maddy launched Bynes Consulting Group to help non-profits with streamlined operations, public policy analysis, and more. She is currently the Principal Consultant for the firm.

When asked why she chose to study in the MPP program, Maddy stated “I chose the MPP because I wanted to learn more of the technical aspects to policy analysis. I've really enjoyed learning the statistics I need to be more confident in both reading and understanding policy analysis.”  She went on to say “this program has helped me to better understand the intersection between policy implementation, analysis, and how they both impact the political process. During my tenure in the program, I've learned to be more confident in my analytical and mathematical skills, as well as my communication skills in helping people understand complex policy analyses.”

Maddy will earn her Master of Public Policy degree this year in December 2023.
