MPA Spotlight: Kennedy Van Norman
My name is Kennedy Van Norman and I am a second year MPA student. I currently work at Child and Family Resources, which is a local nonprofit, where I teach a Sexual Risk Avoidance curriculum to youth all over the greater Tucson area. I am also a graduate assistance for student accountability at the Dean of Students Office for the University of Arizona. I was recently chosen to be a part of the class of 2024 for Greater Tucson Leadership, which is a cohort of rising leaders in the city of Tucson who come together to try to solve unique and complex challenges surrounding our community.
I chose to purse the Master in Public Administration because it aligned perfectly with what I saw myself doing for the rest of my life. No matter where my career takes me, I want to be able to serve others in the most effective way possible and be able to produce concrete solutions to better the lives of those in my community. I have been very grateful to have learned these skills in the MPA program.
Post graduation, I plan on either further pursing education through a JD degree, or working for the government in some capacity where I can continue to help the communities I care about deeply.
