Dismas Charities Inc., Tucson AZ is a 146 bed residential reentry center that provides quality, cost-effective, community-based treatment services and programs to individuals and their families who are involved in the criminal justice system. Our goal is to assist individuals in becoming positive, productive members of their community. Dismas Charities is one of the largest, not-for-profit providers of residential, effective, evidence based re-entry services in the United States for over 50 years. Dismas Charities gives men and women releasing from state and federal incarceration the skills and motivation to re-enter society as contributing members. The work of Dismas is to end the cycle of victimization and to heal the human spirit.

Interns will be exposed to a variety of positions and experiences involving resident supervision, monitoring, data entry/Clerical support/filing, case work, counseling, community organizing and volunteer work.

Purpose of Internship

Provide the student the opportunity to observe and work within the criminal justice and community reentry. Interns will have direct access complete scope of community reentry and supervision of offender preparing to return to the community including the challenges faced by residents and law enforcement personal involved in their supervision and successful reentry.

Agency Qualifications (minimum)

All applicants must be able to pass a criminal background investigation completed by the Federal Bureau of Prisons and receive approval to work with federal offenders.
