Joohyun Ryu is a Ph.D. student majoring in Public Policy & Management with a minor in Methodology at the School of Government and Public Policy, University of Arizona. Her research focuses on environmental policy, energy policy, policy making process, governance, and justice.

She earned her Master of City Planning in Environmental Studies, with a concentration in Environmental Management, from Seoul National University in 2018. As a researcher at the Seoul Institute, she contributed to key masterplans of the Seoul government such as 2022-2026 Seoul Climate Change Response Master Plan and the 5th Seoul Energy Plan (2020-2040). Additionally, she served on the Environment and Health Committee of the Seoul government's citizen's committee for two terms (2nd and 3rd), holding the position of vice chairperson during the 3rd term.
