Dolunay Bulut
Documents
Dolunay Bulut earned her PhD in Politics from the New School for Social Research. Her work explores constitutional and democratic theory at the crossroads of politics, law, and sociology, with a particular focus on legitimacy, sovereignty, and authoritarianism in Central and Eastern Europe and the Middle East. By analyzing resilient autocracies on the fringes of the hegemonic liberal order, her research provides a critical framework to differentiate these regimes from the broader populist movement.
Before joining the SGPP community as a postdoctoral researcher, Dr. Bulut taught courses in comparative politics, modern political thought, and the dynamics of social and institutional transformations at NYU, the New School, and CUNY. Her academic pursuits and teaching reflect her extensive experience in civil society and NGO work, where she specialized in legal transformations and human rights violations concerning religion and education. Additionally, her academic service also included assisting the editorial boards of the academic journals Constellations and Social Research Journal.
