U.S. Government Accountability Office

The Government Accountability Office is an independent, nonpartisan agency that exists to support Congress in meeting its constitutional responsibilities. The agency examines the use of public funds; evaluates federal programs and policies; and provides analyses, recommendations, and other assistance to help Congress make informed oversight, policy, and funding decisions.

For the second year in a row, the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) ranked number one in the Partnership for Public Service’s Best Places to Work rankings released in July 2022.  GAO placed first overall among mid-size federal agencies. At GAO, we strive for a workplace that values, respects, and treats all employees fairly in a culture that fosters diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility.
