Internship Description: Unpaid
The intern will be assigned to almost every facet of the Oro Valley Police Department and spend time learning about both the commissioned, and civilian side of the agency. Interns will be working in the field and in the office to gain experience within the departments various units.
Dress Attire -
- Business Casual
- No Sandals
- No dresses/skirts' as the possibility of assisting in the field with an officer in a desert environment or inclement weather exposure are possible.
A comprehensive 'criminal history background check' will need to be completed on the applicant, covering:
- Drug usage
- Driving history
- Arrest history
- Criminal involvement before appointment
This background check can take up to six weeks to complete.
NOTE: The outcome of background check may/may not influence the decision on the selected applicant by Oro Valley Police Department.
Purpose of the Internship:
The intern will have a better understanding of the dynamics of the Oro Valley Police Department and gain pre-professional experience.
Agency minimum qualifications
Currently enrolled in UA School of Government at the time of the internship, with a goal of a career in law enforcement. Must be 18 or over at the time of application.
Agency preferred qualifications
Has the ability to work well with others in a professional environment. Preferred interns work efficiently and diligently.
