The mission of the Community Relations & Recruitment Division is to provide outreach, engagement, educational & career pathway opportunities to our community and the department. These initiatives strengthen relations in our community, growth within the department and proactive police engagement in the City of Mesa. We are committed to building partnerships and creating opportunities for engagement.

Deadlines

Summer to Fall will be accepted and processed in March. Winter to Spring will be accepted and processed in August. The application process can take a month to complete. Please keep this in mind when applying. 

Internship Description: Unpaid

Job functions and positions will be based on positions available. Examples of positions for internship: 

  • Patrol Support.
  • Victim Assistance.
  • Crime Analyst.
  • DUI Unit.
  • Office Assistant.
  • Special Events Assistant.
  • Technology.
  • More!

Purpose of the Internship:

The Mesa Police Department offers college students the opportunity to be exposed to various areas of the Department and work with highly trained police officers, detectives and professional staff. Interns will receive hands-on training and exposure in areas such as Criminal Investigations, Forensics, Technology, Communications, Community Outreach, and so much more. An internship at the Mesa Police Department will be both rewarding and educational, allowing students to be part of the day-to-day operations of Mesa PD and opening the door to a future career in law enforcement.

Interview with Mesa PD Internship Coordinator and unit/area supervisors.

Complete Background Investigation and be cleared 

*Positions with Forensic Services will need to submit a College Transcript with recent coursework
This process generally takes a month.
