Marana Police Department - Fall & Spring Only

The Marana Police Department is committed to providing Unparalleled Service, Unwavering Protection with Uncompromised Integrity to the citizens of Marana.  We service an area of approximately 127 square miles and have a growing population of approximately 50,000 people.  This intern program is created to provide an in depth perspective into the Marana Police Department.

Internship Available

  • Fall - Apply by June 15
  • Spring - Apply by December 7

Internship Description: Unpaid

The intern will be assigned to almost every facet of the Marana Police Department and spend time learning about both the commissioned, and civilian side of the agency. Interns will be working in the field and in the office to gain experience within the departments various units.

Purpose of the Internship

The intern will have a better understanding of the dynamics of the Marana Police Department and gain pre-professional experience.

Agency Minimum Qualifications

Must be a full-time student at the University of Arizona.  No Felony Convictions, Valid Driver’s License, No Criminal or Drug Abuse History.
Preference will be given to the School of Government and Public Policy Students

How to Apply

Please send a letter of interest to the contact person listed below.  In this letter please explain why you are interested in an internship with Marana Police Department, and what you would help bring to the internship program.  The letter of interest can be by email or hard copy.  Please provide a telephone number to be contacted as well. Once this letter is received, the Community Resource Unit (CRU) will reach out to the student to provide them with an internship application that must be fully filled out, notarized, and returned back to our police department. The prospective intern will then undergo a thorough background check. An interview with the student may be requested as well.

Interns will be fingerprinted and must pass a background check before beginning.  Only 2 interns will be taken at a time.
