Founded in 1965, The Hermitage No-Kill Cat Shelter & Sanctuary is a non-profit (501c3) organization with that rescues and re-homes at-risk feline. Our mission is to advocate for the welfare of cats by being a model cage-free sanctuary and no-kill shelter. We were the first No-Kill, Cage Free Shelter in Arizona and are one of very few accredited sanctuaries in the US that takes in cats with FeLV and FIV.

Internship Description: Unpaid

We are seeking a creative, driven, detail-oriented college student who will be assisting and working with the Development Coordinator. This position will focus on supportive tasks and projects as they relate to The Hermitage’s fundraising efforts and marketing.The intern will assist the Development Coordinator in planning events, creating marketing materials (including editing videos and photos for promotional content), planning social media and communications schedules, and assisting with day-to-day administrative tasks. The intern will also have the opportunity to attend Hermitage Board meetings and see strategic planning in action.

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with the planning, and management of fundraising campaigns and events.
  • Creating promotional content for The Hermitage, including editing videos for YouTube and graphic design.
  • Completing day-to-day administrative tasks as needed.

Desired Experience & Skills: 

  • Pursuing a degree in any relevant field (interest in working in the non-profit sector is a plus)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with editing videos and photographs is a plus
  • Ability to find creative solutions and take initiative
    • Love of cats, as well as a general knowledge of cat behavior
