Internship Description

You will assist with research, review, and summarization of findings/comments regarding ongoing Commission investigations that include:

  • Evolving renewable energy matters including the incorporation of Battery Energy Storage Systems, Transportation Electrification, Energy Efficiency, and Demand Response, and the interaction of renewable energy in the Western Grid including the possible incorporation of a Regional Transmission Organization in the West or involvement in the day ahead markets.
  • Future development and use of clean resource technologies, the financial impact of those clean resource technologies and the impact the technologies have on service reliability in Arizona.
  • Evolving technologies to assist with water conservation/usage and the impact of those technologies on the State’s regulated water and wastewater companies.
  • Assistance with annual report database building, data validation and analysis.
  • Research with implementation of federal mandates on Arizona regulated utilities and the cost to rate payers.

Agency Preferred Qualifications

Selected interns may work with applications and/or compliance filings from electric, natural gas, propane, telecom, wastewater, and water companies. To the extent possible, specific assignments will be made depending upon the intern’s chosen academic discipline. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and other Online Research Skills is preferred.
An academic background/interest in one or more of the following is desired:
