Agency Description
The Arizona Corporation Commission is a state-wide agency with responsibilities including public utility regulation, business registration, securities regulation, railroad and pipeline safety, and much more. The Commission is one of only 13 states with elected Commissioners. The Commissioners function in an Executive, Legislative, and Judicial capacity. The Commission’s chief office is located in Phoenix where it holds monthly meetings, but the Commission also maintains an office in Tucson.
The Corporations Division’s responsibility is to administer the statutorily required business filings of all foreign and domestic limited liability companies and corporations in Arizona. There are approximately 1.5 million active limited liability companies and corporations in Arizona. The Corporations Division administers each of the statutorily required business filings and services for businesses in Arizona. In addition to administering and maintaining business filings, the Corporations Division is also responsible for furnishing public records requests and receiving service of process for corporations.

Internship Description (Paid) $15.75/hr
- Learn about each of the current operational sections including Initial Processing, Examination, Customer Contact Center, Call Center, Records, and Same Day/Next Day.
- Gain and apply functional familiarity with business filings, forms, and flows.
- Perform research and analysis on Arizona Revised Statutes, Arizona Administrative Code, and internal policies.
- Assist with organizational management including developing training material, process redesign, continuous improvement strategies, and refining standard operating procedures.
- Assist with special projects including research, requirement gathering, rules writing, and change management strategies.
- Assist in the development and execution of system test plans, conditions, test scripts, and test cases for new filing database.
- Support staff with key business processes, software applications, and databases.
- Maintain relations with the public, government agencies, and the business community at large.
Internship Purpose
- The intern would learn about the powers, purpose, and duties of the Corporations Division of the Arizona Corporation Commission.
- Learn about applicable Arizona Revised Statutes, Arizona Administrative Code, and internal policies, and how they affect the processes and procedures of the Corporations Division.
- The intern would work with Division leadership to gain skills and experience related to strategic management, effective leadership styles, team development, process improvement, communication, and other methods and practices which influence organizational effectiveness.
Additional Information:
Intern will receive an ID badge, official government/state email address and account, and building access. Must be responsible for keeping and maintaining state property and adhering to state policies regarding the appropriate use of state internet and technology, state travel and expenses, and the use of internet service and email accounts. Intern must adhere to an obligation to maintain the confidentiality of the office’s privileged and confidential information concerning the internal privileged deliberations, conversations, and frank conversations of the office.
Agency Minimum Qualifications: Junior status or above. Ability to work in-office at either the Phoenix or Tucson location.
Agency Preferred Qualifications: Personal and career interests in organizational management, public service, community outreach, and working in a customer centric environment.
