Xavier Segura

Professor Segura is an Asst. Professor of Practice in the School of Government and Public Policy at the University of Arizona. Professor Segura’s research interests includes a focus on the historically underrepresented populations, law, race, gender, criminal justice ethics, diversity, and equity issues in law, legal studies, and the criminal justice system.

Professor Segura’s research includes the study of “Panicgogy: The Impact of the COVID-19 on Student and Faculty Mental Health, Levels of Engagement, and Motivation.” and research on “The Impact of Implicit Bias and Discrimination of Empowerment Scholarships.”

Professor Segura teaches courses at the undergraduate level on criminal justice administration, criminal justice ethics, and LGBTQ+, the law, and public policy.

Professor Segura is a recipient of the 2022 Leadership in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award, and is one of the first professionals to earn the University of Arizona’s Endorsed Leader Award and Recognition. Professor Segura is recognized by the City of Tucson and the United States Army for his honorable and prestigious service to the community.
