The UA Office of Government & Community Relations is responsible for promoting positive relationships in the community and working with both internal and external partners to collaborate on regional issues. Interns will work under the direction of staff to support this work by organizing service projects, drafting communications and reports, and any other tasks assigned. Examples of past projects completed by interns include organizing food drives, blood drives, research projects, and supporting meetings for community leaders.
Interns seeking hands-on experience in government and community outreach are encouraged to apply. No
experience is necessary. Upperclassmen preferred.
- Assist with event planning and operations for blood drives, service projects, food drives, and meetings
with community leaders. - Compile research, maintain records, generate reports, and manage contact lists.
- Draft newsletter articles for neighborhood associations and other groups.
- Attend community events to support staff and network with community leaders.

Purpose of Internship
This internship is meant to augment the professional and/or academic goals of students interested in working in government and community relations or a related field. No experience is necessary, and staff will provide coaching and direction.

Agency Qualifications (minimum)
- Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with diverse constituencies and maintain the highest level of professionalism.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
- Energetic, team player and eager to tackle new projects and ideas with a positive attitude.
- Community relations or customer service background helpful
- Upperclassmen preferred
