The Southwest Institute for Research on Women (SIROW) is looking for a graduate assistant (0.25 FTE) to support their work in local Criminal Justice reform with an emphasis on populations who disproportionately experience the criminal legal system due to homelessness, substance use disorder, or mental illness.

This GAship entails working with SIROW staff and the City of Tucson's Community Safety, Health & Wellness Program to 1) conduct a scan of harm reduction agencies and community-based organizations in Tucson to identify their scope of work, current capacity, strategic goals, and gaps 2) plan and implement collective strategizing and goal-setting opportunities related to harm reduction and overdose prevention, 3) develop a written strategy plan, evaluation metrics, and feedback sessions with key stakeholders, and 4) assist the Program team and key stakeholders to develop a funding strategy including review of grant opportunities and initial grant writing (as time permits).

This is an incredible opportunity for students to gain real-world exposure to applied system change/redesign work, and a grounded sense of the skills needed to navigate changes to local institutions and practices.

Interested students should contact Dr. Keith Bentele (keithb@arizona.edu) directly with a statement of interest for the position describing relevant experience and interest. Familiarity with criminal justice reform, evaluation research, and grant writing are all preferred, but not necessary to be considered for this opportunity.

Statements of interest will considered on a rolling basis as they are submitted.
