PA 433: Nonprofit Management

The nonprofit sector plays a critical role in helping people in need through the provision of social services such as employment training, housing, and individual and family programs. Today nonprofit organizations are being pressured to function more effectively while facing greater competition for resources and reduced government support. From this perspective alone, nonprofit management matters. As such, the emphasis of this course is to connect theory and practice by examining a variety of management tools and practices used in managing nonprofit organizations. Through a combination of readings, case studies, and discussions, students will gain an understanding of the management and leadership issues facing nonprofit organizations.
