SAHBA Southern Arizona Home Builders Government Affairs - Paid internship

The Southern Arizona Home Builders Association (SAHBA) advocates for public policies and develops activities and services that advance new home construction and the home building industry. SAHBA is a member of the National Association of Home Builders. SAHBA represents the industry and members in the Pima County area including the City of Tucson, Town of Marana, Town of Oro Valley and Town of Sahuarita. SAHBA also serves as well as Cochise County and Santa Cruz County. Further, SAHBA advocates for member interests at the State and Federal levels. New home construction is one of the key driving forces to the area’s economic well-being. SAHBA is the voice of the industry dealing with critical issues like sufficient water supplies, environmental regulations, government impact fees and taxation, infrastructure funding and other basic services impacting positive growth.

Job Functions:

  • Research state and local policies and regulations impacting home building industry
  • Monitor local government meeting agendas
  • Assist in developing lobbying strategies on industry issues
  • Assist in coordinating and planning associations grassroots lobbying efforts
  • Track and monitor state and local political issues
  • Assist in writing association government affairs reports/updates/articles

Purpose of the internship

To assist the Government Affairs Director in government and political issues impacting the home building industry within Southern Arizona.
