Daniel Detzi

Ph.D. Candidate

Dan Detzi’s research examines US defense decision-making processes during counterinsurgencies and counterterrorism campaigns. His dissertation seeks to identify both formal and informal decision-making networks within the national security arena to better understand how long-term decision-making processes might differ from short-term, or crisis, decision-making. His research strives to take theoretical frameworks grounded in the field of Public Policy and apply them to the study of civil-military relations and defense policy. Dan is currently an Instructor of Record at the United States Air Force Academy, teaching Politics, American Government, and National Security.
