We currently represent members at the City of Tucson, TUSD, Pima County, Pima Community College, El Rio Health Center, and PimaCare at Home.

Internship Description: Stipend offered

  • Organizing – produce materials, assist with lunch & learns, and member assessments.
  • Media – assisting with social media outreach; working with AFSCME members to write letters and op-eds.
  • Research– conducting research on topics related to pay and working conditions, unfair discipline, health and safety, and collective negotiations.
  • Office Assistance-filing, data entry, updating records, phone banking.
  • Event Planning– arranging logistics and outreach for events.

Agency Minimum Qualifications

  • A commitment to helping workers gain power and justice on the job.
  • An ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • A strong interest in union organizing
  • An ability to empathize with workers and move others to action

Agency Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous work experience that involves research, organizing, phone calling, creative actions and/or writing is helpful.
  • Bilingual, Spanish speaking a plus.

Purpose of the Internship

This is a valuable work experience for those interested in future paid positions in the labor movement.
